We are celebrating 25 incredible years since its inception in 2000 by the acclaimed Lee Hunter. He was named Best UK Salsa Teacher from 2007-2008 and was a runner-up in 2009 & 2010. You’re in for an unforgettable experience! With over 34 years of teaching and nearly 40 years of dance experience under his belt, Lee has established himself as one of the UK’s most beloved salsa instructors (as featured on TV’s First Dance & Four Weddings). From dazzling at the LA Salsa Fest, one of the largest Salsa Congresses in the world, to crafting the Salsa Syllabus for the National Association of Teachers of Dance, Lee’s expertise is unparalleled. You’re truly in the best of hands, and we can’t wait for you to dive in!
Here at Absolute Salsa, we believe that all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a sense of humor! Our classes are designed to be genuinely fun, so let go of your reservations and enjoy every moment.
Our Beginners Classes operate on an exciting 8-week course structure. Before you know it, you’ll feel confident enough to showcase your moves at our vibrant social nights! In the course, you will learn essential salsa moves, timing, weight change, solo steps (Shines), and partner work. After your first visit, we’ve got a golden tip: set aside 3-5 minutes for practice, two or three times a week. This small effort will skyrocket your progress!
We rotate partners in every class to enhance your Lead and Following skills, and trust us, while it may seem daunting, it will significantly boost your confidence. Please wait at least 12 weeks before attempting the Improver Class, or until you’re invited to advance. The beauty of our format is continuity; once your Beginners Course wraps up, you’ll immediately progress into the Improver Class! If you ever feel the desire to revisit the beginner level, just know that the essence remains the same.
